Idle has created a hybrid mattress with a unique design.
Unlike other flippable bed-in-the-box mattresses which have a different firmness on each side, Idle created their mattresses with the SAME firmness on both sides.
This was a concept that used to be common for many traditional innerspring mattresses until the costs got too high to produce them. Then mattress companies stopped selling the ones you could flip and went with the cheaper to manufacture one-sided versions.
In a bold move, Idle has brought back the flippable 2-sided mattress.
This unique design allows you to flip the Idle over periodically to prolong the life of the mattress and prevent any sagging or indentations from occurring. This is especially beneficial in the case of couples where one partner is heavier than the other.

Idle Hybrid Mattress Overview
The company, Idle Sleep, was founded in 2017 and is based in Colorado Springs, CO. All of the mattresses are handmade to order in the USA.

How is the Idle Constructed?
Both the Idle Hybrid and the Idle Latex Hybrid are made with Certipur certified foams which means that they contain no PBDE’s, TDCPP or ozone depleters.
They are both 14″ high, 2-sided and include carry handles for ease in handling the mattresses.
They are also suitable for all sleepers: side, stomach, back and combo (people that rotate between positions during the night.)
Both are constructed of materials that are created to help you sleep cool and get a good nights rest.
The Idle Hybrid
1″ Quilted Foam – Contouring foam is woven into the top layer which gives it softness.
1″ Response Foam – This layer is designed with aerated foam which provides cooling and bounce.
2″ Cooling Buoyancy Foam – Made without visco elastic chemicals to stay cooler than memory foam and gives much better pressure relief for areas like back and hips.
6″ Pocketed Coils – This layer acts as the core support of the mattress with high quality steel pocketed innerspring coils that go all the way to the edge of the mattress.

The cover of the Idle Hybrid is made with Thermocool which is a fabric that helps keep you cool when you’re hot and warm when you are cool.
Idle Latex Hybrid
The Idle Latex Hybrid is available in either Dunlop Latex or Talalay Latex.
Cover – This layer has natural wool woven into the cover to provide comfort and added softness. Yarn rosettes are used as button tufting instead of the glue used in traditional mattress manufacturing since this is an all natural mattress.
3″ Gel Buoyancy Foam – 100% Natural Dunlop or Talalay Latex provides cooling and bounce to the mattress as well as giving it more support than regular memory foam. The latex is naturally hypoallergenic and has anti-microbial properties, too.
6″ Pocketed Coils – This layer has high quality steel pocketed innerspring coils that act as the core support of the mattress.
They go all the way to the edge of the mattress for maximum support from edge to edge.

The cover of the Idle Latex Hybrid is made of organic cotton and wool which are both breathable fabrics and help with airflow and cooling.
This mattress is made with 100% organic cotton, wool and natural latex which are materials that are known for their cooling qualities.
Latex tends to sleep very cool because it is aerated and won’t trap heat the way a traditional memory foam mattress does.
How firm is the Idle?
The Idle Sleep hybrid mattresses come in 2 firmness choices: Medium and Luxury Firm.
You have the option of choosing a mattress with 2 Luxury Firm sides, 2 Medium sides or Medium on one side and Luxury Firm on the other side.
The Medium is around a 6 – 7 out of 10, where 10 is the firmest. The Luxury Firm is around a 9 out of 10.
Heavier people (+300 lbs.) will find the Luxury Firm more supportive.
Edge Support
This is a measure of how supportive the bed is around its perimeter.
The coils on the Idle Sleep mattresses go right to the edge of the mattresses to provide the best support whether you are sitting on the edge or sleeping near it.
Motion Transfer
There is not much motion transfer even though these mattresses do have some bounce. The individually wrapped coils isolate motion much better than traditional inner springs. Compared to other hybrids in the bed-in-a-box category this one may be a good option if you sleep with a partner or a pet so your sleep won’t be affected by their movement.
